ACT Empowers AAPI Voters At Central Florida Dragon Parade

Asian American Pacific Islander (“A.C.T.”) is a grassroots, non-partisan initiative to educate, empower, and engage the Asian American Pacific Islander (“A.A.P.I.”) community in Central Florida. On February 25, 2024, we participated in the 12th annual Central Florida Dragon Parade hosted by Asia Trend, Mills 50 (an Orlando Main Street District), Recognizing, Experiencing Asian Cultural Heritage (“R.E.A.C.H”), and Youth Enrichment and Senior Services (“Y.E.S.S”)!

We immersed ourselves in the heart of the Mills 50 community, fostering connections and raising awareness about the importance of voter education and civic engagement. The Lunar New Year celebrations served as a powerful platform to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds, share our mission, and empower community members to exercise their voices at the ballot box.

Bringing awareness about A.A.P.I. issues and voter education during such celebrations was essential for several reasons:

  1. It helped break barriers and dispel misconceptions about A.A.P.I. communities, fostering understanding and unity among diverse groups.
  2. It empowered individuals to become informed citizens with the knowledge and resources to make informed decisions at the polls.
  3. It emphasized the collective power of the A.A.P.I. electorate, highlighting the importance of representation and advocacy in shaping policies that reflect the needs and aspirations of the community.

By empowering voters and encouraging them to exercise their rights, we not only strengthen the very core of democracy but also pave the way for meaningful and transformative change. We are dedicated to building an inclusive, equitable, and participatory society – where every voice is heard, valued, and empowered to make a difference.
